The Hudson Fire Department is assisting in a Gun Giveaway benefit for Tonya Bartley. Tonya's father, Jim Miller was a veteran of the Hudson Fire Department for Over 20 years serving in our community. Tonya's husband Mike Bartley is a member of the Salem Center Fire Department. Tonya is in need of a new prosthetic arm and our department was contacted to assist in helping raise funds. Stryker Action is holding a gun giveaway for Tonya to raise money for the costs of the new arm. Hudson Fire Department is no hosting the gun giveaway or is holding the fundraiser we are only selling tickets on their behalf.

The gun to be raffled is a DPMS AR-15 Optic Ready Rifle 5.56/.223.

Eligibilty requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older and be able to pass a National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS)

Tickets are $10 and only 300 tickets will be sold. The drawing is March 28th. You may contact any Hudson Fire Department member to purchase a ticket or call the fire station at 260-587-9602

Hudson Fire Rescue purchases much needed PPE for firefighters. The Fire Department has Ordered 7 full sets of Turnout Gear from 5 Alarm Fire. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard for PPE for firefighting states that Gear must be replaced every 10 years to stay within compliance for safety.

The 7 Sets of Gear will replace the remaining sets that became expired this past year. 7 Complete sets of Coat, Pants, Boots, Nomex Hood Gloves and Helmets were ordered along with 1 additional helmet that was out of NFPA date. Funding was obtained from several sources.

The Hudson Fire Department was awarded 3 Grants that contributed to the funding. $5000 in grant money was awarded by the Steuben County Community Foundations Ashley Hudson Fund, $300 was awarded from the Firefighters Charitable Foundation and $500 from the Walmart Store #1709 (Angola) Foundation for a Total of $5800. $5000 came from the Towns of Hudson General Fund from the Fire Departments PPE Budget and $4684 was contributed to the purchase from our in house fundraising bringing the total coast to $15,484.

We want to thank the foundations listed above for the Grant Awards that helped us reach our goal of ensuring all of our members have the proper equipment to do their jobs, and as always we are very thankful for our wonderful community who attends our fundraisers and help us continue providing them with fire and ems service. We received some of the items this week and expect to have everything received in the next 4-6 weeks. Thank you all for your support we couldn't do our jobs without you all.
