HUDSON PARK BOARD

June 13, 2008

The Park Board met on Friday, June 13, 2008, in the Town Hall.  Those present were:  Anna Platt,  Lyle Torrence,  Steve Smith, Trina Pollock, Kathy Kope, Lindsay Meyers, Robin Hayes, Brian Hayes, Gene Hamm, Ward Odom, and Tatsy Hayes

In the absence of the previous Park Board President, President of the Town Council Brian Hayes called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  A motion was made by President Hayes seconded by Steve Smith to accept the November 30, 2007 minutes.  The motion carried.

The first order of business was to elect a Park Committee President. Trina Pollock nominated Lyle Torrence for President.  Hearing no further nominations, Brian Hayes moved the nominations be closed.  Kathy Kope seconded this motion.  Motion unanimously carried. The meeting was then turned over to President Torrence.

Town Manager Ward Odom presented an update on the Hardy Park improvements.  The site has been prepared by Ace Construction and pea gravel put in.  However, this may need to be removed to make it easier for the drilling of holes and cementing by the installers.  We are waiting for the installers, but they feel they will be within the next couple of weeks.  It will take one day for the cement work and one day for the assembly.

The Ball League has completed the steps at the concession booth.  They have also painted the dugouts and put new signs for sponsors.

Trina Pollock asked about a “silent” park.  Ward Odom advised that the 2+ acre plat west of Main Street and south of the railroad tracks had been looked at as a “quiet” park with little more than a walking trail and possibly some benches but it was not yet named.  It is the area that a Hudson resident and Explorer Scout had asked to construct a veterans memorial but he needed to present his plan to the Town Council.

Questions were asked concerning the Ashley-Hudson Festival.  The members were encouraged to come to the next festival meeting.  Ward Odom will make it a point to be sure they are notified.  The President asked if there was any old business.  Hearing none, he asked for new business.  Hearing none he said the next meeting will be called as the need arises.

Trina Pollock moved, seconded by Lindsay Meyers to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,
